Description

"So many fear the night, the unknown. Too few fear the light and the havoc it can wreak when it grows too close--when warmth turns to fire and love turns to obsession, and the one who loves you most would rather see you burn to ashes than let you fall to corruption..." -Anonymous

Chrysalis best be glad she didn't have to face this.

And because it sounds better than "Daydream Sun". Seriously, what the eff. (Also because Kaorin--apologies, I know I stole "Invictus" but I can't remember what you had before it. >.<)

Just a little doodly-thing I did, messing around with slightly different art styles--pretty much every line in there is made of small, perfectly straight line segments.

The idea of Solar Flare Celestia's been rolling around in my head for a while. I'm not sure what inspired her mane covering up one of her eyes, but it strikes me as somehow more menacing. Also not sure what inspired the clock, but it seems appropriate: "And where will you go when the sun itself is ticking down to your demise...?"

Side notes: Iffing on the solar flares and the light spots on the stars. Kind of like them there, kind of don't. Not sure yet. Also, done completely without paths, which is really flippin' new, for me.

Done entirely in Photoshop CS5, occasionally with a Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch.
I do not own My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic or any of its respective properties.

[ Changelog ]
July 13th, 2012 -- Initial release, followed by touch-up re-release (cleaned up accidental shading on the sun, increased sun opacity because some stars were showing through).

(damn dA bugs, had to download to see)

Awesome! And, yeah, I agree, "Daydream/Daymare Sun" is a stupid name. First of all, "Daymare" isn't a word, while "daydream" lacks the pun. Second, daydreams are usually pleasant, not scary, so you lose the imposing quality the word "Nightmare" might've had. Finally, it reeks of uncreativity: seriously, "Daydream Sun", wonder where they came up with that :iconnightmaremoonplz:?
